A multi-phase awareness initiative organized as part of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, combining education, discussion, and international collaboration.
What we did
The initiative began with visits to several schools in Zgharta, where we spoke with high school students about the campaign and invited them to participate in the main event. The central activity was an awareness session held at Centre Ajyal, organized in collaboration with ABAAD and RDFL. The session brought together around 75 participants and featured two key talks. ABAAD presented the 5Ds approach to responding to gender-based violence—practical strategies individuals can use when witnessing harmful situations. RDFL addressed the issue of cyberviolence, focusing on how young girls can be protected from online abuse. The event also included a screening of the movie It Ends With Us, which highlights the reality of domestic violence and opened the door for meaningful discussion among attendees. Alongside the local event, we launched a social media campaign in collaboration with Rotaract clubs from France, the United Kingdom, and Nigeria, sharing educational content, prevention tips, and awareness messages throughout the 16 days. The project concluded with an international webinar organized together with RDFL and Rotaract clubs from Aberdeen (UK), Dijon De la Chouette (France), and FUTA (Nigeria). The webinar connected participants from different countries to exchange perspectives and discuss solutions for addressing gender-based violence. Through education, discussion, and international cooperation, this project helped raise awareness about an important issue while strengthening connections between Rotaract clubs around the world.
